Carol's Bio

~ Musically Speaking ~
The First Note
The early years: Born in New York to a Christian family, music was a big part of family life. Especially fun were the times when the kids would play together at family gatherings and during the holidays. Each sibling played more than one instrument so the variety was great. Church was a priority and using the gifts in worship (instrumental and vocal) was important and a blessing.

Elementary School: In addition to regular music class and choir in school, Carol began lessons on the clarinet and played in the band. Also during this time she started taking piano lessons.

Junior High School: Seeing some potential, the band director encouraged a switch to Oboe... this became her major instrument. She attended a music academy in the evening and studied under an oboist from Juilliard. Carol also played in the All County Band. In the Pep and Marching Bands she played clarinet, trumpet or baritone (depending on need). At this time she also learned how to play the guitar.
The Beat Goes On
High School: Continuing in the band with Oboe, Clarinet and Bass Clarinet, a Music Concentration was added to the academic curriculum. This program included: Theory, Choral music and Orchestral Conducting. "Revelation" was a Christian Band that formed during this time and played at churches, coffee houses, etc. As a member, Carol sang and played the guitar.
College: Attending Nyack College (a Christian Liberal Arts college) her major was Christian Education with a Minor in Music (applied music was in piano and voice). Touring with several music groups and singing in a Quartet (with a focus on missions) rounded out the degree program.
